Istanbul. The 5-magnitude tremor sowed panic this Thursday in the city of Antioch, which was hardest hit by the earthquakes on February 6 and last Monday, although it did not cause serious damage.

According to the Kandilli Seismographic Observatory in Istanbul, the tremor occurred at 15:53 (Turkish time) with an epicenter in Baliklidere, just five kilometers south of Antioch, the capital of Hatay province.

The shock caused panic among those who continue to live in tents in this city, which was almost completely destroyed by the earthquake on the 6th, which killed more than 43 thousand people in ten provinces of the country, according to the NTV network. But as the governor of the province, Rahmi Dogan, told the Turkish Anadolu Agency, the earthquake caused almost no new destruction in the city, which now has no houses.

“Except for the collapse of some buildings that were already damaged, nothing serious happened. According to the first information, there are no victims, no one was left under the rubble,” Dogan said.

Antioch, which was already the city with the highest level of destruction due to earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 on February 6, because it was located directly on a geological fault, suffered another independent earthquake last Monday, according to experts, a magnitude of 6.4 with an aftershock of 5 ,8.

The aftershocks caused six deaths, three of which were people trying to retrieve belongings from damaged houses, and more than a hundred were injured, 18 of them seriously.
