Yes Edgar Berlanga I want an earlier chance Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, you will have to earn it. At least that’s what promoter Eddie Hearns thinks, adding the Puerto Rican boxer to Matchroom Boxing’s roster of talent.

Berlana insisted his dream fight would be against Alvarez, possibly in 2024. Matchroom is the best way to do this as it has featured several of Alvarez’s fights. however, Hearns understands that a Puerto Rican must earn the right.

“We want to fight Canelo, but he has to prove himself in this fight. He (Berlanga) has to beat a number of ranked fighters on the way to that. His first fight with us will take place in June.Hearns told iD Boxing.

Berlanga decided to sign with Matchroom Boxing after receiving offers from Golden Boy Promotions and Premier Boxing Champions.

The 25-year-old fighter was tied to the promotion company Top Rank, which presented the last 11 of his 20 fights. His last was in June 2022 when he faced Alexis Angulo at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. During the fight, Berlanga tried to bite Angulo, which earned him a six-month suspension from the New York Athletic Commission.
